What is Cough Syrup
This combination product is used for temporary relief of cough, hay fever, runny nose due to allergies. This product contains a non-opioid cough suppressant. It affects the cough center, a certain part of the brain, to cure cough completely. This product contains an antihistamine that works by blocking the effects of a certain natural substance.
It also acts as a drying agent. This product should not be used without a doctor’s advice if you have a very chronic cough. Cough and cold products have not been shown to be safe in children under 5 years of age.
Do not use this product at all to treat cold symptoms in children under 5 years of age. You can use it with the advice of a doctor. Long-acting tablets/capsules should not be used in children under 10 years of age.
Use your product as and when you are fully aware of it. These products do not reduce the common cold and may cause serious side effects. If you want that there is no side effect, then read the complete information carefully.
Do not use this product to put the baby to sleep and do not give cough and cold medicine. See Drug Interactions section.
Do not take any medicine to relieve the symptoms of cough and cold without doctor’s advice. If you have already used the medicine, do not use it without consulting.
How to use Cough Syrup
If you are using this medicine without a doctor’s advice, follow all the directions on the product package when taking this medicine. If you do not understand any information, consult a doctor. If your doctor has prescribed this medication, take it exactly as directed.
This medicine can be taken with or without food. If you have an upset stomach, take this medicine with food or milk.
The dosage is based on your age and medical condition. Do not increase your dosage. Do not take this medicine more than necessary. There are many brands of this product available. Read each product’s instructions carefully.
If any medicine is about to be chewed, chew it thoroughly and swallow it. If this medicine is a liquid, measure the medicine carefully and use it. Do not use any household instrument to measure.
If you are using a medicine that dissolves in the mouth, dry your hands thoroughly before opening the medicine. Allow the dose to dissolve completely by placing it on the tongue, then swallowing it inside.
If there is no improvement after a week or if these symptoms return after improvement, seek medical attention immediately.
Side Effects of Cough Syrup
Dizziness, vomiting, headache, or trouble sleeping may occur. If any of these effects are occurring, tell your doctor immediately.
If the doctor has prescribed this medication to be used, remember that the benefit is greater than the risk of side effects. Many people using this medicine do not have any side effect of this medicine.
If you get any serious side effects such as fast heartbeat, tremors, nervousness, hallucinations, trouble urinating, stop taking this medicine right away and tell your doctor right away.
